Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information BacklinkBees collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the BacklinkBees website and marketplace. BacklinkBees is the controller of the personal information described here; contact details are at the end of this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information you provide, such as your name, email address, role, and password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
• Listing and deal information, such as the websites you list, their pricing, and the exchanges, orders, and placements you take part in.
• Transaction information related to orders, subscriptions, and payouts. Card and bank details are handled by our payment processors and are not stored on our servers.
• Messages you send on the platform. To protect both sides of a deal, contact details inside deal messages may be automatically redacted before delivery.
• Usage and device information, such as pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location derived from IP address, browser type, and device identifiers, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

2. How we use your information

• to operate the marketplace: process orders and exchanges, verify placements, and release payouts;
• to display website metrics and match members with relevant listings and partners;
• to communicate with you about your account, deals, orders, and support requests;
• to understand how the Service is used and to improve its design, performance, and usability;
• to protect the Service against fraud, abuse, spam, and prohibited use;
• to comply with legal obligations.

Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (operating your account and transactions), our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service), your consent (non-essential cookies and analytics where consent is required), and compliance with legal obligations.

3. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade the data you add to the platform, including your listings, deals, orders, messages, and contact information, to any third party. Your marketplace activity is used only to run the Service for you.

4. Analytics and measurement tools

We use Google Analytics and similar marketing measurement and web analytics tools to understand how visitors use our pages, so we can improve the interface and experience. These tools collect usage data such as pages visited, time on page, approximate location, and device information, typically through cookies. Where the law requires it, these tools run only with your consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser opt-out add-on. Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve the Service, not to sell your information.

5. Third-party services

We rely on service providers to deliver parts of the Service, including:

• Ahrefs and similar tools for the website metrics shown on listings;
• Payment processors (such as Stripe and PayPal) to handle payments and payouts securely;
• Email providers to send transactional messages;
• Hosting and infrastructure providers to run the Service;
• Analytics providers as described in Section 4.

These providers process data on our behalf, only as needed to deliver their service, under contracts that protect your information.

6. How we share information

We share information with your transaction counterparties only as needed to complete a deal or order (for example, the pseudonymous username you appear under, your listed site, and the placement details), with the service providers above, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and where required by law. We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.

7. International transfers

We serve users globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers, such as standard contractual clauses with our providers.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and operate core features; these do not require consent. We use analytics cookies as described in Section 4, and where consent is required we ask for it before setting them. We do not use non-essential tracking cookies without your consent where consent is required.

9. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Transaction records may be retained after account closure where the law requires it. You can request deletion of your account at any time.

10. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, object to the processing of, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or a similar jurisdiction, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have the rights provided by the CCPA, including the rights to know, delete, and correct; we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined there, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. 12. Children

The Service is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we delete it if we learn we have.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will take reasonable steps to notify you of material changes, such as by email or an in-app notice, and will update the date at the top of this page.
